HSTES (Haryana State Technical Education Society) exam is an entrance examination organized by Government of Haryana for grant of admission into different polytechnic institutes affiliated to HSBTE (Haryana State Board of technical Education) into the diploma courses for both civil and non-civil engineers. The exam is conducted annually normally within the month of May or June in traditional mode in the buildings approved for the purpose of the exam in Haryana state.
The HSTES exam consists of 150 questions (multiple choices) from Physics, Chemistry, and Maths that students must answer correctly within three (3) hours. After having the entrance test scores arranged, different merit lists are build for various fields and the seats are given to the candidates according to their suitability and availability of seats. This year, By 2023, more than 150,000 students competed for 38000 seats that are only 25% of all the applied seats.
