The Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGPM) is one of the management programmes that are popular amongst students who want to get a management degree while they continue to work as the programme is designed for students with experience of about 2 to 3 years of work experience in any field. Thus, the present course is intended for candidates who would like to enhance their managerial competencies while working. It is therefore the desire of the program to provide the participant with all the requisite knowledge and skills that one needs in order to become a manager in the future. While the PGPM program generally lasts for 14 to 16 months, some institutes allow for the completion of the program in 24 months as well.
The two key standard tests that are recognized for entry into the PGPM program are CAT and the GMAT. While the top management institutes such as the IIMs do consider the candidate’s CAT score, other schools and universities also allow valid GMAT scores as a replacement for CAT. Several institutes also have their own process of entrance tests for admission aspiration. The candidates then have to pass through the final selection screening, which includes GD, PI and assessment of work experience, before they can be allotted a PGPM seat at a B-school in India.
