PhD in Pharmaceutical Chemistry is a 3-year full-time program of doctoral level that is focused on advanced research in drug design, finding and developing. Students are admitted to a first-year course which is a rigorous one that includes advanced courses on subjects such as medicinal chemistry, molecular modeling, analytical techniques, pharmacokinetics, genomics and proteomics among other recently emerging areas. Having lab rotations is to let students be immersed in thrilling PhD research topics and giving them the supervisors.
In the second and third years, students only have their research projects in mind and never deviate from them. The doctoral committee gives the students’ guidance throughout their research. The study encompasses the use of novel drug compounds, drug delivery systems, as well as detection methods for drugs. At the end of the PhD, the students play their role by presenting a thesis with the notch quality of publication and an oral defense.
