Master of Architecture [M.Arch.] (Landscape Architecture) Overview 2024 FAQs

Landscape architecture is an interdisciplinary profession that integrates art, science, and ecological principles to compose outdoor spaces that serve human purpose as well as representing natural beauty.

The requirements may differ for different institutions but often a master's degree in the same field such as landscape architecture, architecture, urban planning, or environmental design is required as prerequisite.

MLArch programs durations differ but the majority aim at completing them in two to three years of full-time study.

Graduates are likely to find employment as landscape architects in private firms, government agencies, non-profit organizations or other academic institutions. Besides that, they may also work in urban design, environmental planning or even sustainable development.

Some programs will still take students with unrelated college degrees, however, they will have to complete some additional coursework.
