The Master of Landscape Architecture is a postgraduate degree program coordinated on a full-time 2-year basis, where students are taught to create and apply the principles of landscape design, plan and manage the outdoor environments. The journey began with UNESCO India in the 1990s when the discipline was developing as a separate area of practice. 

Program curriculum addresses both site planning, landscape design, environmental management, horticulture, landscape engineering and natural resource management. The Subjects will touch upon both technical and imaginative technique involving studios, lectures, seminars and practical assignments. In the course of the 4-semester period, future students are to acquire detailed knowledge in the matter of regions’ landscape design, landscape construction technology, recreation planning, landscape ecology, and planting design.

MArch Landscape Architecture Admission 2024

1. Make research on the programs you have specific interests in applying to; ensure that you meet all the eligibility and the program requirements. This could be any of the undergraduate degrees, GPAs, test scores, and other entry requirements to study such masters if they are there.

2. Take part in any standardized tests (GRE, GMAT, etc.) ahead of time and prepare carefully to hopefully get a good score that will be considered a competitive one.

3. Build a solid portfolio which showcases your strongest design abilities, coursework, workplace experience and so on. Adhere to the formats and guidelines that the courses state.

4. Investigate, find, and secure qualifying solid letters of recommendation from your academic or professional references who can testify about your skills and prospects.

5. Prepare this statement of purpose/admission essay through which these interests and motives for your studies at this stage in your professional/educational field will be clear. Facilitate the open communication with the admissions committee to uncover who you are.  

6. It is necessary to carefully scrutinize every application form or program component and ensure that all parts are completed accurately. Schedules should be respected and all documents should be sent within the set timelines.

7. Please note that if possible, attend the programs or visit them that you are most interested in. I also advise you to meet with the faculty/staff so that you can be certain about the environment and culture of the department there.

MArch Landscape Architecture Course Eligibility 2024

Educational Qualifications: Candidates are required to have a first degree in architecture or a related field from accredited universities. Some programs can enroll students who have landscape architecture, environmental design or urban planning degrees.

Minimum GPA: Generally, applicants will be expected to have a minimum GPA (Grade Point Average) in their undergraduate, which may range from 2.5 to 3.0 over a scale of 4.0.

Portfolio Submission: Prospective students are almost always asked to submit a portfolio that demonstrates their design work through projects in landscape architecture, site planning, urban design, as well as ecological design.

Landscape architecture is an interdisciplinary profession that integrates art, science, and ecological principles to compose outdoor spaces that serve human purpose as well as representing natural beauty.

The requirements may differ for different institutions but often a master's degree in the same field such as landscape architecture, architecture, urban planning, or environmental design is required as prerequisite.
