Agriculture is the base of the economy of three-year diploma level course program. This is another name given to the Diploma in Agriculture which deals with science, business and improvement of agriculture. The requirements for admission are 10+2 science or agriculture stream passed certificates. Most of the institutes prefer candidates who have completed their 10th and have got 2 to 3 years of relevant experience to add in their resume as well.
Students are given a diploma curriculum that includes information about soil science, crop production, horticulture, plant pathology, entomology, animal husbandry, dairy science, agricultural economics, extension, and other related topics. Students will be equipped with academic knowledge about farming ideas where they will also get hands-on practices in farming operations and management through experiments, projects, and field work. They are being shown modern and environmentally-friendly farming techniques, and commercialized farming.
1. Eligibility - The applicants should have passed 10+2 course from Science stream with Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Mathematics subjects or 10+2 course from a recognized Agriculture stream from any recognized board. Minimum aggregate marks required ranges from a 40-50% cut off for higher institutes.
2. Entrance tests - Each institute like IARI, CCSHAU and OUAT has its own entrance examination for enrollment. Besides have merit based admission, institutes choose the students through merit of qualifying exam. Some institutes also make uses of entrance examination like ICAR; hence performance also critical.
3. Application process - Applications distributed between May and June primarily. Besides candidates are required to complete their online forms by specified date. With the help of the application fee is about Rs. 300 – 1000.
4. The selection - Institutions create eligibility lists by doing the grading of rankings conducted by the candidates in entrance/qualifying examination. Admission counseling sessions is given which cover document verification before the final admission.
5. Duration of the program - The diploma of agriculture is of 2 academic years, which is divided into 4 semesters. The final program is Bachelor's degree in business administration that can be completed in three or four years apart from diploma programs of 3 years.
1. The minimum requirement is having 10+2 or above equivalence in Science stream with Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Mathematics as the subject. All the streams of science can submit their applications.
2. There is no minimum percent requirement; however, some colleges might stipulate that a student must have an aggregate of 50% in his/her 10+2 exams.
3. In addition to students currently among the 10+2 students can also apply for agriculture diploma on an ad hoc basis.
4. There`s no age bracket to join the farm diploma programs. Whether a recent graduate and qualified entrant, then apply.
Agricultural Science: Examines understanding of fundamental agricultural rules including crop production, soil treatment, and pest control.
Biology: learning about the biological concepts in agriculture such as plant physiology, genetics, and ecology.
Mathematics: Assesses basic numerical skills like measuring the area of a farm, predicting yield, and analyzing financial statements.
General Aptitude: Indicates level of logical reasoning, problem-solving ability to real life situations within the field of agriculture and rural development.
Current Affairs: Seeks to enhance understanding of the recent changes in agriculture, agricultural policies, and global agricultural concerns.
