 A B.Sc in Horticulture Science is a 3-year program devoted to the combination of science and the managing of growing plants such as fruits, vegetables, flowers, landscape plants, and medicinal plants.

A basic subjects course is first taken in the first year of curriculum covering biology, chemistry, plant physiology, biochemistry, and very elementary horticulture. In the second and third years, students take more specialized courses in areas such as as olericulture (vegetable production), pomology (fruit production) , floriculture , plant propagation, post-harvest technology, seed production, plant biotechnology, landscaping, pest management, farm management etc.

BSc Horticulture Science Admission 2024

1. Eligibility-Senior Secondary with Physics, Chemistry & Biology/Mathematics with aggregate marks not less than 50% from a recognized board.

2. Entrance Exams - Universities hold own admission exams. Many candidates take part in national-level exams of ICA/JEE (Mains).

3. Application Procedures - Depending on whether you want to apply online or offline, submit the application form after filling it. Attach document such as XII board result, school certificates, etc.

4. Eligibility Criteria - Entrance exam score of the students are the key factor in the selection process, but along with that 10+2 scores would be kept in mind as well. The applicants may undergo interview session in some colleges as part of the final selection process.

5. Fees - Fees go from INR 25,000-1,50,000 per year in accordance with the college at which you are enrolled. Apart from hostel, dining and toilet to gowns, books etc. also provides additional expenses.

6. Syllabus - Subjects are Horticulture, Plant Pathology, Entomology, Genetics, and Soil Science, etc. Practicals are being conducted in garden, greenhouse etc.

7. Jobs -Horticulturist, Landscape Architect, Nursery Manager, Garden Consultant, etc. are positions respectively offered by the government and the private sector.

BSc Horticulture Science Course Eligibility 2024

1. 10+2 or above (with the main subject being Science that consists of Physics, Chemistry Biology) from a recognized board of education.

2. A minimum of 50% total marks in 10+2 (45% for non-reserved students) is mandatory.

3. The list of eligible students may include those from other streams (arts, commerical etc.) if they complete their science prerequisites.

4. Some university maybe will have an extra criteria such as exam score, interview, etc. that a candidate must take for gaining the admission.

5. Students with no English background can be asked for IELTS/TOEFL English language proficiency scores. This will, in a way, ease their lives as they will not be completely at a disadvantaged position.

Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] (Horticulture Science) Entrance Exams

ICAR AIEEA (UG): The Indian Council of Agricultural Research's All India Entrance Examination for Undergraduate (UG) also has Horticulture Science for admission into various Agriculture Institutes.

AP EAMCET: Andhra Pradesh Engineering, Agriculture, and Medical Common Entrance Exam serve as the door opening for various subjects such as Horticulture Science among others.

TS EAMCET: Humanities, Agricultural and Medical entrance test in Telangana State contains Horticulture Science for under graduation courses.

KEAM: Kerala Engineering Architecture Medical – entrance test which requires candidates interested in Horticulture Science to fill in.

ICAR AIEEA (UG): Thoroughly trained Horticulture Science professionals are required to tackle the challenges faced by horticulture sector. 3 Pest Management This course covers the principles and practices of pest management, with a focus on horticultural crops. Topics include integrated pest management (IPM), biological control, chemical control, and cultural control methods.
4 Mushroom Culture This course covers the principles and practices of mushroom cultivation, including spawn preparation, substrate preparation, inoculation, fruiting chamber management, and harvesting.
4 Biotechnology of Horticultural Crops This course covers the principles and techniques of biotechnology applied to horticultural crops. Topics include tissue culture, micropropagation, and genetic engineering.
