Vel Tech Rangaraja Dr. Sagunthala R, an award winning research university located in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, is a deemed university. The university began operations on the year 1990 and within its walls are undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral degree programs in a diversified range of fields which include engineering, technology, management, science as well as humanity. The institute avails the advanced infrastructure with numerous job placement opportunities which students can access. 

The two courses covered are B.Tech Computer Science Engineering and Master of Business Admistration in Marketing. The B.Tech CSE course has units on data structures, algorithms, operating systems, and database management systems, among several other practical lab sessions. The MBA Marketing program helps to build up marketing strategies, analyze and understand consumer behavior, and apply the digital marketing tools. 

Exams for these trimesters are held from November to December and from April to May each year. The 2024 admission starts on February 2024. Students have to appear for either national level or state level entrance tests like JEE Main and TANCET. To get admission on the next level they have to obtain a cutoff mark. They will be going through the counselling process which will be institute level in order to be selected for admission. Merit based selection is chosen.

- For BTech programs - 60% aggregate (55% for SC/ST) having passed the intermediate level (10+2) of education in PCM subjects. Reasoning and knowledge quotient tests like JEE Mains is needed now.

- For MTech programs, the students should have a Bachelor's degree in any relevant branch of engineering with a minimum eligible score of 60% (55% for SC/ST). O7 programs may require GATE score.

- For BCA - computers application have become so vast & one has to be at least at the level of minimum 50% aggregate marks passed in 12th/equivalent. From the twelfth grade, you have to include mathematics in your study papers. 

- The eligibility criteria for MCA programs are 50% marks an above in any undergraduate course with Mathematics in 12th or graduation.

- PhD programs: master's degree with at least 55% marks or CGPA equivalent. Qualifications required are like UGC-NET/SET or else statutory body like these.

Additionally,

- Repose of 5% marks will be given to the Vel Tech group of students. 

- Graduation holders (diploma path) with 60% marks can be directly admitted into 2nd year of BTech.

- The chances of getting in are purely based on merit, which is decided through different kind of qualifying exams like JEE Main, GATE, TANCET etc., depending upon the program.

- Students who cleared the JEE Main and also scored well in the board exams are granted admissions into undergraduate engineering programs.

- For the enrollment in GATE programs, it is mandatory that an individual possesses both BE/BTech degree and GATE score. 

- For MBA and MCA, we need a valid TANCET score with us. Working experience may also be considered as a valid criterion for applying for MBA.

- Application has to be filled in online at the portal of the institute's web site. In addition, it is payment of applicant fees that is required.

- DMIs call for interviews along sessions of group discussions and personal interviews for the final selection stage.

- Sitting allocation is depending upon factors such as rank for the admission test, academic performance and behaviour in GD/PI etc.
