Cotton University, capital city of Assam, is a public university which is the only university of North-eastern states. It was started in the year 1901 and is one of the oldest Universities of the Northeastern part of our country which has long been considered the best in arts, science, law, commerce and education. The university has 35 departments and a wide range of programs in undergraduate level and graduate programs. Of the total list of courses run in Cotton University, B.A. in Economics and M.Sc are the popular ones.in Physics. The bachelor's degree in Economics offers students a firm foundation in microeconomics, macroeconomics, statistics, and econometrics, and this sets up a path for students to become corporate sector members, researchers or pursue their higher academical careers. The M.Sc. Physics involves both electronics and nuclear physics with subjects ranging from basic to advanced topics which are simultaneously taught in theory and lab. Exam for winter session generally are conducted in November/December but exam for summers ending takes place in April/May.

Cotton University Admission Process 2024

- Cotton University carries on with an exam of its own that is more of a gateway into its undergraduate and postgraduate academic courses. The aptitude test will take place in April/May, 2024 for the coming batch starting in that year.

- To take the entrance test, students will be required to file in the online registration form, which is commonly released in February 2024 on the university website. The procedure normally includes registration, uploading of documents, payment of the fees, etc.

- Criteria for the test will depend on what course the applicant intends to enroll into. In most cases, 50-60% marks as obtained in 10+2 exams is the minimum thousand for entry to the undergraduate programs. A relevant bachelors degree with minimum percentage marks is required from students for admission into a postgraduate(PG) degree course.

- The entrance exam might as well screen students on subjects that will be essential to the programme they are applying for. Examples are literature including quantitative literacy, reasoning, English competence, current affairs etc.

- Upon the completion of the entrance exams and the application of the threshold measures, Cotton University will issue the merit lists and select students for the counseling sessions as the selected ones. There will be counseling sessions for qualifird students to get the seats allocated and confirming the admission.

- But the final admission will depend on fulfilling the criteria of seats reserved, reservations for special categories, students’ preferences shared during counseling and much more.
