The Rural and Eligible People (REAP) exam is a national-level entrance exam conducted by the Government of India for providing undergraduate medical admissions to candidates from rural and disadvantaged backgrounds. The purpose of this exam is to bring more possibilities to medical education for students from the rural areas through improving the accessibility and affordability of the education.
The REAP exam tests candidates on subjects like physics, chemistry, botany, and zoology through objective-type multiple choice questions. Shortlisted students who are identified using the scores and the number of seats available, will be given subsidized medical college seats in both government and private medical colleges across India.
The exam is conducted once every year, usually in the month of June. After that, the temporary answer key is published in a weeks' time. After considering objections raised, the NBE publishes final answer keys and declares results in the last week of July every year.
