The well recognized entrance exam for admission to various design programs offered via NID campuses in India is the Design Aptitude Test (DAT) of the National Institute of Design (NID). It evaluates a candidate's capacity for originality, problem-solving skills, discernible perception, and conversational ability.
A list of the successful candidates sits for Mains that assess creative ability by tests in drawing and, creative ability. According to the tentative calendar, the NID DAT Prelims are conducted in the months of January and May in the year 2024; however, the date is still unreleased. In summary, students who took exams in 2023 will be given their results, in an estimate, 3 weeks after the exam. Students to be selected shall be informed earlier before the commencement of the course. 1. The official website of NID is www.nid.edu, where you can find information about the DAT examination, including the schedule and requirements for admission, and so on. Generally, the exam notification is published in August/September.
2. Apply for admission into the NID once the applications are on, by registering yourself with the application site. As a new user, you will be required to select a user ID and password.
3. Pay close attention to the data you input on the online application form. Please ensure that you fill in the personal, academic, and contact information sections correctly.
4. Scan and upload images of your photograph, signature, and other documents if necessary. This may include age and qualification documents, category certificates, if any and any other document that is considered relevant.
5. Usually, you have to pay the application fee online through credit/debit card, net banking, or UPI. The amount of fee to be charged should also be indicated by the sender of the notification.
6. Save the final confirmation page of your submitted application and fee receipt and also take a print out of the submission for future reference
7. Issuance of admit card to appear for the DAT preliminary exam shall only be issued to candidates who have filled their forms in completeness. To download your admit card, visit the portal and save a copy from the time it is released before the exam
8. Sit for the NID DAT preliminary and main exams as per the scheduled date and at the centre assigned to you along with the admit card
