National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test for Undergraduate

NEET-UG or National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Undergraduate is all-India medical entrance test for Undergraduate courses in country for MBBS/BDS and Other medical undergraduate programs. Being of the National Testing Agency (NTA), it is the one to gate the way for medical and dental colleges. The given NEET UG exam is MCQ based consisting of 180 questions drawn from Physics, Chemistry and Biology, with the topics of Botany and Zoology. Exam duration is 3 hours, which is held in 11 languages.

Language of the question paper is the same. NEET UG scores are valid for all government as well as private medical/dental colleges in India as per the directives of the MCI. During 2022 financial year, the number of candidates appearing for NEET UG exam was 18 lakhs and it was held on 17th July of the same year. The scheduled release of NEET Result 2022 was slated for 7th September. According to NTA exam calendar, NEET UG 2023 is scheduled on May 7 and students can expect to receive their result most likely within the first week of June 2023. The application process would most probable start in March 2023. The NEET 2024 tentative exam date is assigned as 5th May and the results may be expected to be out by June in the first week of the same year.

NEET UG Preparation Tips 2024

1. Make a study plan and stick to it: Base your study schedule on the real time you have daily/weekly and commit yourself to follow it up for the discipline. Complete a weekly plan, which contains the set-ready goals and time allocated for task accomplishment.

2. Understand the syllabus and exam pattern: Study the syllabus and question paper pattern to know what to expect. Verify that the topic of interest does not miss from the study syllabus and that the topics with higher weightages are duly accorded much attention. In addition to the above, please also understand the rules of the day of the exam that will be provided by the examination board.

3. Study NCERT books thoroughly: How many times we had gone through the NCERT books during our preparation for NEET? Ensure to refer to and complete entire NCERT syllabus (Physics, Chemistry and Biology) at least twice. Realize how such theories, ideas, illustrations, and charts come out perfectly.

4. Practice with previous years' question papers: Solve the last 5 years NEET question papers so that you can explore how the exam pattern, marking scheme and the type of questions they ask has changed over a period of time. This will provide you with the insight into the referencing style and the amount of the work you will have to do. Understand your weak point and wok hard at it.

5. Take mock tests: We must remember that attempting mock tests as a routinely is a must. It will allow to speed up the process, identify strong and weak prospects and make it more precise. We need to do the study to enhance company results.

6. Develop problem solving skills: Try to finger through a number of questions from books for reference, previous year’s question papers, etc. Keep practicing speed and accuracy while attempting to solve questions.

7. Revise important concepts: Everyday polishing formulas, equations, definitions, diagrams and key facts/concepts of every topic by re-studying them and keeping the memory of them clean. 

8. Avoid unnecessary and unreliable study material: Follow that respectful attitude and adhere to the official sources and famous books/websites to avoid the information overload.
