The exam is held in a pen-and-paper mode and consists of multiple-choice questions (MCQs) on Legal Aptitude, English Language, and General Knowledge.

The ILICAT exam is a qualifying exam for admission to the LLM program at the ILI. The candidates who qualify the exam will be eligible to participate in the LLM selection process, which includes a personal interview and a viva voce.

ILICAT Eligibility Criteria 2024

Educational qualificationThe candidate must have passed the 3-year LLB degree from a recognized university or the 5-year integrated LLB degree from a recognized university.
Minimum aggregate marks50% (45% for SC/ST) marks in the LLB degree.

ILICAT Exam Pattern and Syllabus 2024

Exam Pattern

The ILICAT exam is a pen-and-paper exam that consists of 150 multiple-choice questions (MCQs). The questions are divided into three sections:

  • Legal Aptitude (75 questions)
  • English Language (45 questions)
  • General Knowledge (30 questions)

Each MCQ carries 1 mark. There is no negative marking.

The exam is of 3 hours duration.

ILICAT 2024 Result

The ILICAT 2024 result is not yet declared. The result is expected to be declared in August 2024. The result will be available on the official website of the Indian Law Institute.

The ILICAT 2024 result will be declared in order of merit. The candidates who have scored the highest marks will be ranked higher. The candidates who have qualified the exam will be eligible to participate in the LLM selection process, which includes a personal interview and a viva voce.

ILICAT 2024 Counselling

  1. Document verification: The candidates will have to submit their original documents for verification. The documents that need to be verified are:

    • Mark sheet of the LLB degree
    • Character certificate from the college where the LLB degree was obtained
    • Proof of identity and residence
  2. Personal interview: The candidates will have to appear for a personal interview. The interview will be conducted by a panel of experts. The interview will assess the candidate's academic performance, communication skills, and aptitude for law.

ILICAT 2024 Counselling Documents 

  1. Admit Card and Application Form: Carry your ILICAT admit card and a copy of the application form filled during the registration process.

  2. Rank/Score Card: Present a copy of your ILICAT rank or scorecard, which indicates your performance in the entrance examination.

  3. Identity Proof: Carry a valid government-issued photo identity proof such as Aadhar card, passport, driver's license, or voter ID.

  4. Educational Certificates: Provide original and photocopies of your educational certificates, including mark sheets, degree certificates, and any relevant academic documents.

  5. Category/Caste Certificate: If applicable, bring a copy of your caste/category certificate for reservation purposes.
