The examination known as the BARC OCES (Bhabha Atomic Research Centre Orientation Course for Engineering Graduates and Science Post Graduates) is conducted by the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) for selection of engineers and scientists. It is one of the most sought after exams in India for pursuing the career in nuclear sciences. The BARC OCES exam for the recruitment of eligible candidates has two phases, the first phase is a screening test in which the conceptual knowledge of the candidates is measured based on subjects like Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics etc. Those who qualify this are given a go-ahead to sit for stage 2 which includes an interview. The final merit list is prepared based of the marks obtained in stage 1 screening test, as well as the interview conducted later.
OCES results always come out within three months once the interviews are over at BARC. Those who get selected have to mandatorily go through an orientation programme conducted by the BARC Training School, Mumbai. It takes about 1 to 2 years to complete the courses and during this time they are paid a monthly allowance as well as their accommodation is provided for. There is employment opportunity for the successful candidates to be posted in different units of BARC upon successful completion of the course.
