The PG Diploma in Law (PGDL) is a one-year diploma after the Postgraduate course in India that offers extra legal knowledge to the graduates from any stream. The central aim of the PGDL program is to equip students with a sustained training of law and legal practice, even though they have not majored in this discipline as an undergraduate.

The subjects covered by the PG Diploma in Law are Constitutional Law, Philosophy of Law, Law on contracts, Criminal Law, Civil Procedure Code and Limitation Act, Labour Laws, Environmental Laws, Taxation Laws, Corporate Law, Intellectual Property Rights, and Cyber Laws, among others. The subjects of law are imparted to students in lecture sessions, case analysis, assignments and the practical training. 

Post Graduate Diploma in Law Admission Process

1. Owner of the private law degree or equivalent law degrees as may be recognized by the Bar Council of India. 

2. The students who is to be admitted in the university or institute will take the entrance test organized by the university or institute and then will have counseling. Some colleges, as an example, have a criterion whereby an applicant can be selected based on merit.

3. Application form must be filled either via online or offline protocol and the correct documents should be presented. 

4. The written exams will test the candidates' aptitude, the knowledge of law and English proficiency. The institute is the syllabus’s deciding authority  

5. Offers for admissions are made based on counseling of candidates having previous entrance test scores etc, records, with payment of course fees.

Post Graduate Diploma in Law Eligibility

1. Educational Qualification

- The applicant must have a bachelor's degree in science stream from an institution that is registered.

2. Minimum Marks

- The candidate must received a minimum of 50% average marks in graduation. A cut off of 45% for students under the reserved category is  the minimum criteria for getting admission into the institute.

3. Entrance Test 

- The educational requirements are almost the same for all these law courses. One has to pass the CLAT PG or the test conducted by individual colleges to seek admission. Some colleges may give direct admission for first years if the grades in senior year are high.

4. Work Experience

- Few colleges preferably take into account the relevant work experience in the application, and, however, it is not a must-be condition.

5. Age Limit

- The PG Diploma in Law enrollment age limit is often, not.
