Post Graduate Diploma in Accountancy (PGDCA) is a one year diploma programme students can pursue from several colleges and institutes in India. It is an undergraduate level course that includes different concepts of accounting and finance. The PGDCA programme encompasses financial accounting, cost accounting, taxation, auditing, management accounting and corporate finance. Its main objectives are to offer comprehensive theoretical and practical concepts, principles and techniques of accounting. The PGDCA course duration is 1 year split into two semesters based on the academic calendar of the institution in question. And, some institutes also provide this course in distance learning mode, as well.
The entrance test acceptable for the admission in the PGDCA course are CAT, XAT, MAT, CMAT, ATMA, GMAT, CA CPT, CS entrance test etc. Many colleges also provide direct admission based on the marks of graduation or the qualifying examination or the score in bachelor’s degree. The basic requirement to begin applying for this course is to be a graduate from a recognized university or college in any stream like B.Com, BBA, BCA etc with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks. The colleges generally expect some formal working experience in accounts/finance from the candidates seeking admission in PGDCA.
