LLM in Human Rights is a master's degree program which takes 2 years to complete and aims at enabling students to acquire in-depth knowledge of law governing human rights and policy formulation related to the same. Students acquire knowledge over all areas of human rights, from civil, political, economic, social, and cultural rights, whether they occur domestically or internationally.

The curriculum shows the theory and legal mechanisms of human rights protection and compliance. Among the core courses are subjects on constitutional rights, laws and institutions on international human rights, rights of the marginalized groups, and other topics dealing with humanitarian laws in war, and availability of justice. Students also select from a variety of electives related to the protection of refugees, rights of tribes and communities, the right to development, etc.  

LLM Human Rights Admission 2024

1. Research law schools that have strong human rights laws study and note their admission requirements like GPA, test scores, statements, and etc. 

2. Prepare for and take any necessary standardized exams e.g. LSAT or GRE and score high enough to be competitive for the schools on your target list.

3. Collocate to articulate a compelling personal statement that shows your dedication coupled with the experience of human rights law and advocacy. 

4. One can get the letters of recommendation from the employers or professors who are well-acquainted with our academic and/or professional abilities.

5. Put in your school applications fully and provide all necessities such as transcripts, writing samples, CV, and application fees day by day.

6. Get yourself enrolled into the outside grants and fellowships to help you fund the LLM if that is necessary; schools may also have need- and merit-based financial aids.

L.L.M. Human Rights Eligibility

1. The candidate should hold a valid law degree, either LL.B, B.A.LL.B, B.Sc. , etc. Graduation in LL.B, B.L or an equivalent degree from a recognized college with a minimum of 50% marks or equivalent grade. 

2. Who have completed a 3-year LL.B course after Graduation in any discipline or Integrated 5-year course hold the positions as well. 

3. Students subjected to final year semester exams can also apply provisionally to the program contingent upon satisfying the criteria when their results will be announced.

4. The course is open to everyone, no matter their age or work experience, and they are all free to submit themselves to be admitted. Law graduates who are freshly do graduate as well as working professionals of legal and non-legal stream can apply.

5. On the admission, candidates need to present valid score of CLAT, LSAT or any national competitive exam coupled by regular university marksheets and certificates .  

6. Foreign citizens and expatriates have to undergo the university's admissions process that includes meeting certain criteria by submitting documents such as passports, among others.

L.L.M. Human Rights Entrance Exams

CLAT PG: The Common Law Admission Test for the Postgraduate course is designed to assess the candidates' ability in the area of legal aptitude, constitutional law and general knowledge. Marks serve as a basis for admission to LLM Programmes including specialization in Human Rights in many Indian law universities.

LSAT-India: LSAT judges candidates' inductive reasoning, reading comprehension and deductive reasoning abilities. The applicants scores also considered by law schools offering post-graduation in human rights LLM degree.

AILET PG: AAI-PET for the Postgraduate Law Entrance is a test that judges knowledge of law subjects such as constitutional & legal aptitude. Scores are needed for admission to NLU Delhi’s LLM programs, including the specializations on Human Rights.

DU LLM Entrance Exam: Delhi University, like all other universities running LLM programs, conducts entrance exam for admission into LLM programs, including, Human Rights specialization, testing the students in general awareness, constitutional law, and legal reasoning.

PU LLM Entrance Exam: The Human Rights course at the post graduate level at the Panjab University is an entrance exam for the admission to LLM programs, it tests the candidates' knowledge in law subjects, legal aptitude and general awareness.
