A Diploma in Jewellery Design is an on-the-job or an 1-2 year training period that gives an individual the opportunity to learn designing, manufacturing, and marketing of jewelry. The students are taught about gems, diamonds, jewelry making, ethics of mining, precious metals, computer-aided jewelry design (CAD) and the trends in the jewelry industry. 

A curriculum like this contains a spectrum of sub-fields, which include design principles of jewelry, stone setting techniques, wax model making, metal casting, enameling, costing and pricing of jewelry, jewelry photography and portfolio development, among others. Students actualize their interest in the trade by being trained on the specific tools and equipment used in jewellery manufacturing. They manage to establish outlines for the collection and craft the jewelry items themselves.

Diploma in Jewellery Design Admission Process

1. Candidate should have passed 10+2 or equivalent in any stream examinations of a recognized board. 

2. Normally at the start of the admission process, the college or the institute will conduct an entrance examination. Then, the successful candidates will be called for an interview. 

3. Candidates are expected to supply an art portfolio of previous works. 

4. Admission to any course is decided by tests that are conducted on marks scored in qualifying examination as well as entrance test performance, interview round and portfolio review. 

5. The duration of course is in the range of 1-2 years with the fees kept as low as Rs.50,000 to as high as Rs.2,00,000 per annum. 

6. Topics that are incorporated include designing and making of jewellery, gemology, etc. metal working, CAD software.

Diploma in Jewellery Design Eligibility

1. Educational Qualification - The candidates must have passed 10+2 in any stream obtained from a recognized board and must have scored minimum an average of 50%. 

2. Age Limit - In the process of entering there are usually no specific upper age limitations. On the other hand, candidates are expected to have distributed their time comprehensively where they would just have completed their 10+2 as recently as they can if they would wish to apply.  

3. Skills - Candidates should have a creative mind and an ability to look at things from different angles by being very interested in designing jewelry. We would also like to encourage those who have a sound knowledge of drawing to join us as well.

4. Physical Fitness -Applicants must have the physical capabilities that call for working long hours of concentrated care on the intricate pieces of jewellery. To those with none visible signs of health disorders and without any major physical disabilities.

5. Process of Admissions - Well-known training institutes use an entrance exam to assess a candidate's ability to think creatively, understand aesthetic shapes, and show talent in art. Such a process starts with an interview round or portfolio submission for final consideration.
