Diploma in Fine Art (Painting) is an undergraduate course that takes 2-3 years to complete, wherein the students conceive and execute their ideas with an emphasis on painting tools. Some of the subject areas taught are art history, art perspectives, fundamentals of visual arts including drawing and print making and painting specialization where students learn various styles of painting using various mediums for instance, oil, water color, acrylics etc In addition, students undergo still life study, landscape paintings, composition, principles of color, and besides gaining theoretical knowledge, the students get practical experience in exercises.
For admission in Diploma in Fine Arts (Painting), some of the common entrance examinations accepted are NATA (National Aptitude Test in Architecture), UCEED (Undergraduate Common Entrance Exam for Design), CEED (Common Entrance Examination for Design), NID DAT (National Institute of Design Design Aptitude Test), NIFT (National Institute of Fashion Technology) and some state or University level exams. Very few institutes provide direct admission to the students who have scored good marks in their class 12 exams. The other standard admission process most colleges require is the submission of portfolio where students display previous artworks.
