The BDes in Communication Design is a 4-year long undergrad program which delves deep into the realms of visual communication and design. Students get the idea of how design concepts and technology can be applied in creating visual messages, forming brand images, developing journalism publication and interactive media, and strategically communication campaign creation.
The curriculum comprises design fundamentals from the subject of typography, color theory, drawing and layout through communication and graphic design topic (e.g. branding, packaging, publication layout, web design and advertising, illustration, and photography); and also general studies in the liberal arts. Students operating using CAD machines are trained.

1. Having passed 10+2 from any stream of education (Science, Commerce, Arts) with at least 50% aggregate marks. Students taking 10+2 examinations can also apply for the fellowships.
2. Students of the individual and board must pass minimum 24 credits. Having 2 subjects at A level with AS level English minimum of 50% is required for AS exam for Cambridge students.
3. Aimed at assessing the applicants' aptitude, applicants should have cleared the test conducted by the institute or National Institute of Design (NID). Candidates have to go through a process which begins by submitting their application and then registering for the entrance exam when the admission process is open.
4. Also worth mentioning that candidates with a CEED exam score have great opportunity to apply for. One of the most prestigious design competition undertaken by IIT Bombay every year is 'CEED' for postgraduate design courses.
5. The international applicants are required to have studied for 12 years that must be equivalent to secondary schooling with % aggregate marks. TOEFL/IELTS scores needed.
6. Both applicants' academic record, entrance exams scores, portfolio, and interview round are parts of an overall summary used for the selection process. Enrolling on the program will not mean in any way you are automatically selected.
NIFT Entrance Exam: It measures the aptitude, creativity, and communication skills. Consists of the part of drawing, design and general knowledge. Mandatory for entrance to National Institute of Fashion Technology.
CEED (Common Entrance Examination for Design): Assesses creativity, problem-solving, visualization abilities. Consists of two parts - Part A: Subjective, Objective, Part B: Subjective. Approved by many design schools in India.
AIEED (All India Entrance Examination for Design): Measures design aptitude, logical reasoning, and overall knowledge. It is conducted in two stages - GAT (General Ability Test) and CAT (Creative Ability Test). Used by ARCH College of Design & Business.
NID Entrance Exam: Evaluates design dexterity, innovative thinking, and problem solving. Consists of two phases: DAT Prelims (Design Aptitude Test) and DAT Mains (Studio Test & Personal Interview).
