Bachelor of Arts (Bengali) is a three-year undergraduate level course In Bangladesh, the duration of this course mostly takes three years. This course offers information about the Bengali language, Bangali literature, poetry, drama, culture and traditions. The contents aim towards cultivating reading, writing, speaking, comprehending, analyzing and researching abilities in Bengali language. It enables the students to have an extensive knowledge of the classic and medieval Bengali literatures, and some famous poets/authors. They are expected to understand and explain aspects such as plot, characters, themes, tone and imagery regarding literary works, poems, stories, novels and essays.
It is to mention here that several national and state level entrance examinations are admissible for getting admission to a BA (Bengali) course. CUET, TET, CPET, APSET, TSPSC are some of the entrance test exams that are being conducted. Most of these institutions also have their own tests, which are used to complement the SAT and/or ACT scores. However, in a number of institutions, the candidate is admitted through his or her performance in the last qualifying examination. The usual criteria for entrance into the course is the 10+2 examination, in which the student must have studied Bengali as one of the subjects, and the pass percentage may range between 40 to 60 percent depending on the university.
