Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the NIRRH PhD program, candidates must meet the following criteria:
Be an Indian citizen
Have a master's degree in any branch of life sciences (biochemistry, biotechnology, microbiology, zoology, bioinformatics, biophysics, etc.) or MBBS/BDS graduates or MD/M.Pharm degree holders from India
Have a minimum of 55% or equivalent cumulative grade point average (CGPA) from higher secondary (10+2) onwards for General, OBC, and Economically Weaker Section (EWS) category candidates and 50% for Scheduled Caste (SC)/Scheduled Tribe (ST)/Person with Disabilities (PWD) candidates in aggregate (or equivalent grade).

- National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by CSIR/UGC/ICMR/DBT/DeitY for lectureship and equivalent positions
- Graduate Aptitude Test in Research (GATE) conducted by IITs and IISc for admission to postgraduate programs in engineering, science, and humanities
- ICMR SRF-B eligibility test
- An equivalent national level exam in the relevant field
