The West Bengal State University (WBSU), being a public university, has been situated in Barasat, West Bengal. Set up in 2008, WBSU has already become one of the first-rate universities in the state having more than a hundred and fifty colleges affiliated to it. - For undergraduate programs: The minimum qualification to apply for this program is passed out 10+2 exams in a respective stream from a recognized board with minimum percentage required in the specific program.

- For postgraduate programs: Bachelor's degree on a credential subject. The minimal percentage that will be accepted for each program is as specified. Some other programs may have a test requirement, in addition to ones listed above. 

- For MPhil and PhD programs: A master’s degree in an associated field, and with minimum percentage marks often required as qualification is necessary. Other than that, the candidates must also have done all the qualifying exams, or even interviews, for them to be accepted.

- For diploma and certificate programs: Qualification requirements vary from 10th or 12th pass to bachelor degree that depend on the program. 

- Other factors that may come into play might be domicile and education requirements, age restrictions, reservations for SC/ST/OBC students, etc. in some cases.

- The admissions are made on the basis of a candidate's performance in one twelfth (i.e. score in 10+2 board exams). Other universities may take their own candidate assessment tests.

- The student applies direct to the university after passing their 10+2  examination. Usually there are grades that need to be exceeded and qualifying marks to meet.
