TNTEU is a state university that is located in Chennai Tamil Nadu, India and was founded in the year 2009. , it is a professional body established in 2008 under the Government of Tamil Nadu to improve the standard of teacher education. TNTEU is approved by the UGC and it has got ‘A’ Grade accreditation from NAAC. As per NIRF Ranking 2023 for Universities announced recently TNTEU stands between 101-150 in the University category. 

The TNTEU provides different types of teacher education programs such as B.ED., M.Ed., M.Phil.University offers semester exam in two times in a year and the degree awarded by this university are BA, BSc, BBA, BCS, MBA, MSc, MCom, MA in English, MSS, M.Phil and Ph.D. Regarding the procedure of applying for the B.Ed., and M.Ed. intake of applications for the 2024 batch should be expected to start sometime in the middle of the year, possibly May-June in 2023. The process of registration entails use of the official website while the processes of selection incorporate merit or an entrance test. TNTEU also set up the test known as TNTET (Tamil Nadu Teacher Eligibility Test) for the candidates seeking teachers’ jobs. To date, there is no official information regarding the TNTET exam dates of the next scheduled examination.

TNTEU helps in providing placements and internships for its B Ed students in various industries and organizations on campus. and M.Ed. students who are in public and private institutions. Some of the leading recruiting companies that hire from this university are Kendriya Vidyalaya, Delhi Public School, PSK school, Sherwood Hall school, Velammal School and PSBB School. TNTEU has been placing more than 80% of the eligible students in different sectors with the average salary package of Rs. 20,000 – 30,000 per month for Primary school teachers and Rs. 40,000 – Rs. 60,000 per month for Secondary senior school teachers. The maximum of the salary package till now has been more than rupees one lakh per month.

Tamil Nadu Teachers Education University Courses Details 2024

Tamil Nadu Teachers Education University commonly known as TNTEU is a state university situated at Chennai, Tamil Nadu which was established on 23rd September 2008. It admits learners to various teacher education programs at the bachelors, masters and doctors level. 

The key programmes provided include Bachelors in Education, Masters in Education, Masters in Philosophy in Education and Doctorate in Education. The former is known as B.Ed which stands for Bachelor of Education and the latter is known M.Ed stands for Master of Education; the former prepares the graduates as school teachers while the latter prepares educators as teacher educators. The M.Phil and Ph.D programs are for the higher level of education which involves conducting of research in the field. Some other courses are – Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed) to train the primary teachers and Certificate in Education (C.Ed) as in-service teacher training program for the untrained teachers.
