Kumaun University is a state university and it is having DSB Campus located in Nainital, Uttarakhand. It was set up in 1973 and has the recognition from the University Grants Commission of India (UGC) and has been accredited with ‘B’ grade by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). Speaking of the NIRF rankings 2023, Kumaun University is placed in the rank of 101-150 among the universities in India. Located in the three different campuses of Nainital, Almora and Bhimtal, the university offers undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programs under arts, commerce, Science, law and education faculties. 

Bachelor’s and master’s degrees are eligible to be attained from this university as it has a vast array of programs for students from different disciplines. Some of the most sort out courses offered at Kumaun University include BA, BCom, BSc, MA in English, Economics, Sociology, Political Science, Botany, Zoology ,Chemistry and Physics among others. End semester examinations for annual exams are held during April-May every year while, admission tests of various courses are held during June. The admission process involves applying either online or offline and writing an entrance examination if any required and attending counseling sessions and then the final seat allotment based on merit, reservation and choices. The prospective academic session of 2024 will most probably experience admission process starting in May 2023.

 Kumaun University has a central placement cell that provides opportunities to companies and students leading to employment and internships. It is home to employers like ICICI Bank, Infosys, TCS, Wipro, SBI capital markets to name but a few, with vacancies for accounting, banking, I IT and management among others. The average salary packages for the students are about INR 3 to 5 lakhs per annum and the highest salary packages of INR 7 to 9 lakhs per annum have also been offered to few students in the previous placement sessions. The university also provides a number of guidelines and support in the area of entrepreneurship and self employment for the students. The Kumaun University has built strong framework and has a pragmatic approach towards its courses and hence, the graduates possess the caliber to fit either for placements or for setting up their own venture once they complete their respective degree.
