Darbhanga Sanskrit University is a state level institution based in Darbhanga, Bihar. The main task of the university is to spread Sanskrit knowledge among the people, harness the ancient Indian literature and philosophy and to promote the culture in general. It was founded in 1962, and it provides courses that range from diploma programs, undergraduate to graduate degree level programs in Sanskrit poetry, grammar, philosophy Nyaya, Vedanta, Mimamsa, Dharmashastra, Jyotisha, and Sahitya and so forth. The 3-year BA in Sanskrit course, offered here, is popular too along with the 2-year MA course.

The exams which take the form of annual are mostly conducted in March-April. Registration will start in May 2023, for the 2024 session submission. Entry into the college will be awarded on the basis of how well the student performs in the university entrance exam. For those who earn a Bachelor’s degree and are interested in pursuing a Master’s degree it is possible.

Kameshwar Singh Darbhanga Sanskrit University

- It is a public state university under the state of Bihar, in India, located in Darbhanga, Bihar. It was founded in 1962 in accordance with the Act on Kameshwar Singh Sanskrit University.

- It deals extensively with Sanskrit literature, philosophy, art, and Culture alongside exposition of Dharma Shastras (Hindu scriptures and texts). That's educational system from kindergarten to doctoral level altogether.

- Vedas, Upanishads, Puranas, Buddhism, Dharmashastras, Indian philosophy, music and dance, Indian mathematics and astronomy, yoga and Ayurveda serve as the focus areas.

- There are also several constituent colleges spread through in Bihar which are affiliated to it, including Chair Shri Kameshwar Singh Sanskrit Mahavidyalaya in Darbhanga.

- The academy houses Sanskrit numismatic collection that was collected by one king, Kameshwar Singh, from Darbhanga. Not only is it retrospective, but it is also equipped with a manuscriptology department.

- It is notable that these alumni include people who are primarily oriented towards Indology, Sanskrit media studies and ancient Indian texts. Some graduates even work on popularizing, Sanskrit language and literature.

- Presently the Vice Chancellor of our University is the famous scholar of Sanskrit Dr. Nagendra Nath Jha.

Kameshwar Singh Darbhanga Sanskrit University Admission Process

- Students are enrolled to different courses, namely Acharya, Shastri, Diploma or Certificate in courses pertaining to Sanskrit literature, Indic tradition, philosophy and others.

- The admission of Acharya (in Post-graduate diploma) and Shastri (in Graduation) will be based on the written exam conducted by the university. Although in some cases, there might be in person-interviews too.

- For various courses like diploma, certificate and others admission to the course is could be merit based on qualifying exam or interview or on both.

- The full application form and the university guide is uploaded to the university website in anticipation of the admission drive. The Parliamentary or Assembly elections these days brings massive challenges to competing candidates. Their main hurdle is about filling up the form within the enforced time frame.  

- Seats will be reserved as per rules for socially backward students under the gov. rule.
