Animal Sciences University in Bihar (Basu) is an agricultural university with its main campus in Patna, the capital of Bihar State. Since 2010, it has been functioning as an institution that is responsible for both education, research and extension activities related to veterinary sciences, dairy technology and fisheries sciences. SABU is a conglomeration of five constituent colleges along with sixteen research centers and it offers undergraduate and postgraduate programs. 

Identified in the BASU curriculum are the two courses, BVSc & AH (Bachelor of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry) and BTech Dairy Technology. The 5-year Vet Sc class will be about the anatomy, physiology and biochemistry of animals and clinical practice as well. The 4-year BTech Dairy Technology course gives students the ability of milking processing, quality analysis, dairy engineering, and the like.

The prospective students will sit for the university admission test, which BASU has lined up for May 2024. The application gets going with March in most cases. For students who want to pursue BVSc, they need to have completed 10+2 with science students, in physics, chemistry and biology collecting minimum 50% aggregate marks. For Dairy Technology, candidates must secure 10+2 pass certificate with physics, chemistry and mathematics. The eligible students further have to go through a test and then stick to the Sessions of University entrance exam for the final process of admission.

Bihar Animal Sciences University Admission Process

- Admission process is carried out for several undergraduate and graduate courses related with veterinary science, dairy technology and fish science and so on.

- The admission in the undergraduate courses is based in 10+2 merit. This is especially important for programs which require the applicants to undergo a simple agriculture aptitude test.

- For that matter, the pre-graduation programs such as MVSc and PhD require an entrance test conducted by the respective universities. The last stage will be for candidates whose CV have been filtered to be part of the counseling/interviewing session for the final shortlist.

- As per government policies of Bihar state, and as per personal quota, there are some seats reserved for students from reserved categories. Some percentage of campus takes entrance exams at the national level which usually is ICAR.

- It is the university that updates the prospective students on the details regarding the admission procedure, exams dates, counseling timetable etc. from mid-March to early-April every year. 

- All the application processes such as registration, uploading documents and fees and the like have to be done online via the university’s portal.

Bihar Animal Sciences University Application Procedure

1. Application Form

- The Official Website – www.basu.org.in is the address.

- It is Attend the Admissions page and point to the link of online application form.

- Creating an account, you need to put all your personal, academic and contact information as properly as possible.

2. Upload Documents

- On your completion of the application form, you must submit your scanned photographs, signature, date of birth certificate, mark sheets, caste certificate and other specifics.

3. Application Fee

- Pay the application fee through any payment method such as card, netbanking or UPI online. Category wise it can be said that the fee amount is different.

4. Print Application

- Now that you have completed your application form, register by saving and printing a copy after paying the required fee.

5. Send Documents

- We shall send the printout of the admission form along with the photocopies of documents either by speed post/registered post or personally at the office of the university if you fill and submit the form before the last date.

6. Admit Card

- Download your admit card/hall ticket from the website after release of executive before the exam/ interview.

7. Selection Process

- Take part in the entrance exam/interviews which are very much necessary to get selected for your program.

8. Counselling

- Picking you up as the one if adequate, shall be done no sooner than fin nalizing the admission documents after paying the tuition based on your merit rank/score till the counselling dates are passed.
