The Validation by Educational Experience (VEE) examination, which serves as a prerequisite to earn an actuarial credential, is a requirement for either the CAS or SOA to confer an actuarial credential. The reason of VEE program is to affirm that the actuaries seeking admission owns the extensive knowledge in three critical areas which are not acting as an actuarial exam - economics, accounting and finance, and mathematical statistics. It is the VEE exams that are not scored as pass or fail but require candidates to accrue at least the minimum credit from courses in those subjects that are to be approved at the college/university level before getting full credential.
Almost everybody gets this credential while getting education in the college and it is a piece of evidence which shows that individuals considering to be actuarial scientists have broader financial and economic knowledge than just technical actuarial examination. As soon as CAS and SOA publish the VEE exam directory mid-2021, this directory will list all the approved college courses and VEE credit requirements for the academic years that will begin in the following year. For the 2024 exam, the VEE (Volunteer Experience and Education and Training) requirements and approved course list that would apply since June 2023 are expected to be published.
