UPES DAT is a computer-based national level entrance examination conducted by the University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (UPES), Dehradun, for admission to the undergraduate design programme B.Des and the various specializations. The primary purpose of the DAT exam is to evaluate the essential statistics-oriented and design-related skills in candidates, including mathematical reasoning, general knowledge, communication skills, as well as their abilities in design per se.
The test is accessed virtually and is made up of 100 multiple-choice questions with no indicators for a wrong answer. The general is 2 hours. Asking verbal, basic numerical, reasoning, general knowledge and visual ability are required. Upon scoring well in the DAT, the candidates get into the process of achieving admission first by successful completion of a portfolio review process and subsequently by scoring high in the personal interview.
Thus far, the dates for the clinical aptitude test for 2024 from DAU have yet to be announced. Mostly this exam takes place between February-April on a yearly basis. To start with, in 2023, the DAT result day was the 2nd of May. Chosen have to complete the admission formalities before the date of commencement of classes in July/August is notified. Examination of the previous years` results indicates crucial tests that are considered as moderately difficult and a total selection rate of about 20% in different design programmes from all test-takers. The application form and test preparation resources will be available on the UPES website around 60 days before the entrance test is conducted.
