UNILAT, the University of Law School Admission Test, is a standardized exam that is used for making admission decision to law schools within the country. The primary objective is to evaluate the candidate's ability to reason, understand the written text, follow reasoning and manage the study of case law. It is a competitive national level examination for the admissions in the University Law School Admissions Council (ULSAC).
The examination is made up of five parts - logical inference, analytic inference, reading comprehension, quantitative reasoning, and an essay. The test is performed online in the two-year interval. In 2024, the ULSAT will be conducted on February 12th and July 17th with the first being the date of examination and the latter the marking period. Each section of the test is served with a specific time allocated to it. After receiving the scores of the different sections and the overall outcome, students will be admitted into over 200 law colleges where the ULSAT scores are recognized.
As part of the results issued by the ULSAT, a scaled score is issued for each section (ranging between 200-800), the total scaled score (ranging between 400-1600), and the percentile secured that has implications on law programs acceptance levels at different universities. Test results are perhaps announced within20 days of the testing. An applicant’s numerical, linguistic competence, and writing capacity, along with the ability to think and analyze, are all measured by this test to evaluate their fitness to study the law at the tertiary level in the nation.
