The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) Junior Engineer (JE) Civil Engineering (CE) examination is a competitive recruitment process that aims to select skilled individuals for junior engineering positions in the Central Government. As of my last knowledge update in January 2023, the SSC JE CE exam specifically targets candidates with a background in Civil Engineering.

The examination comprises two papers: Paper-I is an objective type paper that assesses candidates on General Intelligence and Reasoning, General Awareness, and Civil Engineering. Paper-II is a conventional type paper focusing on Civil Engineering subjects. Successful candidates move on to the next stages of the selection process.

SSC JE CE 2024 Counseling

Stage 1:

• In the first stage, candidates will be ranked based on their performance in the two papers.
• The ranking will be done separately for each category and department/ministry.
• Candidates who have cleared the cut-off marks for both papers will be eligible to participate in the counseling process.

Stage 2:

• In the second stage, candidates will be called for counseling at various centers across the country.
• The counseling process will involve the following steps:
  • Verification of documents
  • Choice filling
  • Allotment of post

Documents required for counseling:

• Original and self-attested copies of all educational certificates
• Original and self-attested copies of caste/category certificate, if applicable
• Original and self-attested copies of experience certificates, if applicable
• Recent passport-size photograph

Choice filling:

• Candidates will be given a choice-filling form during the counseling process.
• Candidates must carefully fill the choice-filling form in order to get their desired post.
• Candidates can choose posts from the following departments/ministries:
  • Central Public Works Department (CPWD)
  • Border Roads Organisation (BRO)
  • Indian Railways
  • Ministry of Defence
  • Ministry of Roads, Transport and Highways
  • Ministry of Power
  • Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs
  • Ministry of Water Resources

SSC JE CE 2024 Eligibility

1. Educational Qualifications:

   • Candidates should have a degree or diploma in Civil Engineering from a recognized institution or university. The specific educational requirements may vary based on the post applied for.

2. Age Limit:

   • The age limit for SSC JE varies based on the post and is typically in the range of 18 to 32 years. Age relaxation is provided for candidates belonging to reserved categories.

3. Nationality:

   • Candidates must be Indian citizens. However, certain posts may allow candidates from Nepal, Bhutan, or Tibetan refugees to apply.

4. Citizenship/Nativity:

   • For certain posts, candidates need to be a subject of Nepal, Bhutan, or a Tibetan refugee who came to India before the 1st of January 1962.

5. Age Relaxation:

   • Age relaxation is provided for candidates belonging to reserved categories such as SC/ST, OBC, PwD, Ex-Servicemen, etc. The extent of relaxation varies based on the category.
