RBI Assistant Exam 2024: Syllabus, Recruitment, Eligibility

The Reserve Bank of India Assistant exam commonly referred to as the RBI Assistant exam is conducted by the Reserve Bank of India in order to recruit Assistants who will be performing various tasks for the central bank. It is considered to be among the most recognized and competitive exams in the banking sector of India. The RBI Assistant exam includes the preliminary exam, mains exam, and the language test proficiency. The preliminary exam comprises of 100 questions that focus on testing the basic reasoning ability, quantitative ability, and English proficiency of the candidates. Those who qualify the cut off mark in the prelims sit for the mains examination which aims at General Awareness, General English, Reasoning ability and Computer Literacy, Quantitative Aptitude and professional knowledge. Last but not the least they are subjected to language proficiency test. 

To provide an overview, 9,32,245 candidates appeared for the RBI Assistant exam that was conducted in 2022 and only around 2000 candidates were able to qualify for each of the stages and get selected. The annual examination was conducted in the year 2022 and the results were announced in November, 2022. It is to be noted that the RBI Assistant Exam 2024 notification could be released in the middle of 2023. The preliminary exam may be held in the period between August and October of the academic year 2024. The actual dates for the exams will be announced through the official notification in case of RBI releases it for the post of Office Assistant. This is because their performance in each of the stages of the exams and the final merit list decide the final selection. It may be due to transfer/posting in any of the RBI offices all over the country.
