The admittance of the MITID Design Aptitude Test (DAT) is a national level entrance test, the MIT Institute of Design conducts for admission to its undergraduate and postgraduate design programmes. The objective of the MITID DAT is to grade design thinking, design sensibility, aesthetic sense, observation skills, and the ability to think creatively among students of the Department of Architecture & Town Planning. This is 3 hour long ink and paper based test divided in four sections -visual reasoning and design sensitivity, creativity and innovations, drawing and communication skills. The subject matter is divided into verbal and visual components, with each one testing the participant's reasoning skills equally.
Besides a creative portfolio, the scores of DAT exam are also taken into consideration while offering a chance in the MITID campuses in Pune, Hyderabad and Delhi to study Industrial Design, Fashion & Lifestyle Accessories Design, and Transportation & Automobile Design. MITID DAT from admission into the year 2024 batch will occur in either the second or the third week of January 2024. The MITID site will be updated in September-October 2023 about the examination date and application process. Results are normally announced by 4 weeks after the examination date.
