The Michigan English Language Assessment Battery (MELAB) is a standardized test that enables non-native speakers to establish their English language proficiency for the admission to an undergraduate or graduate program in a university or college. The MELAB exam has listening, grammar, cloze, vocabulary, reading, and writing tests as its composing parts. The test enables test takers to showcase their knowledge and use of English both in writing and speaking as well as listening.
The MELAB examination is widely used in the USA and Canada for admitting students to the universities or for placing students in appropriate classes. Candidates are given a standard score ranging between 0 – 99, with a higher score revealing a higher English proficiency. MELAB test appointments for 2024 are scheduled for Jan 9th, March 11th, Jun 10th, Aug 13th, and Nov 5th. It has test centres in North America and other countries around the world. There are two ways in which a candidate can register for either a paper-based or a computer-based test and these include the following. It is always advisable to check the performance in MELAB since the results are released within a month after the test. Those who filed for MELAB and meet the required passing score can apply for the programs they want in any of the universities after obtaining the test score result.
