The KPSC is responsible for the examination and selection of candidates to civil service positions in the state of Karnataka, India, with the KAS exam being a yearly event. KAS is one of the most challenging examinations conducted for the state civil services in India. The tests comprises of a pre-test or screening test, a general test or main test, and the final test which is the personality test or interview. The preliminary examination comprises two objectives’ papers, inclusive of general studies and aptitude. The candidates who pass the prelims can sit for the mains examination wherein the candidates are examined in the subject areas of Essay, General Studies and the chosen Optional subjects. The last step in the selections involves candidates being drafted for the personality test round.
Finally, the selection is made based on the total score of the candidate on the main exam and the interview. In the state civil services, the selection of the candidates ranges from 300 to 400 in a year in the coveted list. The exact date of the KAS exam 2024 notification is still unclear but it could be in April-May 2024 and the prelims are likely to be conducted in June-July. The prelims result may take a month and the main exams may be planned for November 2024, if all goes according to plan. The selection of fresh batch KAS 2024 and the final result may be declared by March 2025.
