JIPMER (Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research) is a national level medical entrance exam conducted every year by this institute for admitting into MBBS (Medical Doctors of India) and BDS (Doctors of Dental Surgery) programs offered at the twin JIPMER institutes located in Puducherry and Karaikal. The JIPMER exam may be as stringent as any other medical entrance test in India testing students on knowledge from subjects in classes 11 and 12 which include Physics, Chemistry and Biology. The examin is conducted in two phases. The first phase is a screening test, which throws students into the second phase known as main exam. Upon the scores and cut-off marks which had already been predetermined by the main exam, students are then admitted into the undergraduate medical and dental departments.
The JIPMER 2023 test will be conducted on June 4th for phase 1 and June 11th for phase 2 as the exam date. Last year, about 1.1 lakhs candidates faced the written exams and out of that 203 only got the privilege to clear the exams. The result was publicized on June 20th. The exam dates for phase 1 and 2 that act as tentative in 2024 will be June 2nd and June 9th correspondingly. Nonetheless, the dates will be communicated before the end of 2023, or in the beginning of 2024. The admission process entails the main exam passing with effectiveness, document verification and medical exam finally before the seat allotment.
