Indian Coast Guard Navik Domestic Branch

The Indian Coast Guard conducts the Navik DB examination every year to seek suitable candidates for the post of Navik (Domestic Branch) in the Indian Coast Guard. A national level examination that includes a written test and before the test there is a test of physical fitness test. The tests include General knowledge, Mathematics, English, Science, and Reasoning in the written part. As for the Navik DB training, it starts twice a year in the months of January and August at the INS Chilka. The basic criteria to write the examination is the candidate should be an Indian citizen and must be of the age between 18 to 22 years and he or she should have passed the Class 10th examination with minimum of 50% marks in aggregate.

There are written competitive examination, physical efficiency test, preliminary medical test and final medical test in INS Chilka. Written test is composed of questions from general knowledge, simple arithmetic, reasoning, English grammar, practical physics, chemistry and basic mathematics. According to the current requirements, one has to pass the physical standards test like the 1.6 km run to be considered for the medical round.

How to Apply for Indian Coast Guard Navik DB Exam 2024?

1. Online portal for applying: To be a part of Indian Coast Guard, you should be within the age of 18-22 years, passed 12th with Maths & Physics and mark physical criteria of the Indian Coast Guard.

2. Start preparations early enough – The syllabus includes Mathematics, Physics, English, General Knowledge, reasoning, and psychology. This means that enough time must be availed for preparation in order to win the game. 

3. Join online – There is online registration where candidates are expected to visit official website joinindiancoastguard.cdac.in. Sign up as a new user and complete the registration form on the website.

4. Documents to be uploaded - You should need to upload scanned copies of your 10th & 12th marksheets, caste certificate if any, domicile certificate etc. 

5. For paying examination fees, there are online options like net banking, debit or credit card or, personally at the nearest ICG selection board.

6. Download e-admit card – This means that an admit card will be issued for the written test and this will be available from the website.

7. Write a written exam – It is MCQ based on the syllabus set for the course. Qualifying cut-off marks applicable.

8. Clear Written Exam – After clearing the written exam, candidates are asked to undertake the Physical Fitness Test or PFT which serves to determine the physical fitness and stamina of the candidate. 

9. Complete Medical Screening – Fitness levels, hearing and vision among other aspects are checked and tested according to the ICG medical requirements.

10. Final selection process – Candidates recommended by the Medical Officer will be required for final selection which involve documentation, verbal interrogation etc.
