Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC), a wing of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, conducts an entrance test for the purpose of admitting students into Post Graduate Diploma courses into different specializations of mass communication like Journalism, Advertising & PR, Radio, TV and Multimedia. IMC AI is a national level entrance exam which is conducted for the PG Diploma program of IIMC which is offered across its campuses across India. 

The IIMC entrance test focuses on testing factual awareness, analytical skills, language comprehension skills, and the ability of candidates to understand the concepts of media and communication. The test will take place in an offline mode which is the pen-paper format in different shifts in the cities of maximum centers. In past years, IIMC entrance test time frame was from May-June 2024 for 2024 admissions. The result determining which eligible candidates pass the exam will be notified within a month from the exam. Final shortlisted candidates would have to be present for the counseling rounds as a pre-requisite, where the students will be given a final admission package based on the preference, availability of seats across IIMC campuses and the category ranking of the students. It is from the latest third week of July of every year that the sessions for the new PGD students admitted to IIMC through the national entrance exam are conducted.
