IIM Common Admission Process

The Common Admission Test (CAT) being the one national level admission test to the Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) program provided by Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) is accepted by other academic institutions as well, for their management admission programs. CAT sets of four verbal, quantitative, data interpretation, and qualitative abilities which are examined through the multiple choice question paper of 120 questions and 180 minutes duration. Over 150 business schools across India including IIMs accept the CAT scores to decide the merit list for admissions into their flagship programs.

It is expected that the CAT 2024 exam will be around November 2024 and will be providing the online mode with the duration of 40 minutes for every section. Among other things, the authorities at IIMs are expected to release the results of CAT 2024 in the second week of January 2025 as per the plan on the website of iimcat.ac.in. Only the students who cross the minimum cutoff% set individually by the different IIMs and also do well in the exam which is comprised of Writing Ability Test (WAT), Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interview (PI) rounds are selected. The minimum percentage for the IIM call is typically around 70 to 80 percentile.

IIM CAP 2024 Final Merit List Preparation

IIM CAP Exam Preparation Tips 2024

1. Familiarize yourself with exam pattern, syllabus and the balancing of information from different resources. The exam determines quantitative skills, data interpretation and analysis, verbal ability & reading comprehension, and general awareness. Make sure you are familiar with the sections and its content.

2. Create your mathematical, logical, verbal, and generalized knowledge skills practice routinely. Attempt previous question papers, mock tests, stand-alone exercises, and practice papers. These sessions are designed to help students grasp the major quantitative concepts and equations of economics. 

3. Study a lot to have a wide range of vocabulary, grammar, and reading comprehension skills for the verbal section. Daily skimming news articles on newspapers, magazines, and the internet.

4. Acquire general knowledge and be regularly informed with the latest events by reading GK books, magazines and watch the news. Select topics that can cover aspects like politics, business, sports, or economics. 

5. Take advantage of the stress management and study skills and try to improve your weak sides. Consider your mistakes and determine the areas you excel in and the ones where you need to improve.

6. Try to take mock tests that are timed to help you figure out how to regulate how long each question is going to take during real exam. Knowing the distance in order to walk more than once through the testing pattern will ensure the highest success rate.

7. The eight-week programme will finally mark the real end of the preparation period and test your abilities therefore stay motivated through the preparation period. Maintain a positive attitude and rejoice in consistent effort rather than nerves and brain failure the night before the exam. Maintain your health condition and you will be stress free.
