CIPM is a Certificate in Investment Performance Measurement exam which is the certification from CFA Institute. It is centered on the subjects regarding the assessment of investment performance and the imparting of those results to clients and possible investors in line with the acceptable industry practices. The exam involves demonstrating knowledge in GIPS as well as GIPS-based methodology to calculate and present investment performance. Through its system, the standard doesn’t allow professional experts to claim success in investment results unless they have gained the necessary skills. 

The CIPM exam is two-leveled and the first is called the CIPM Principles and the second is the CIPM Expert. Both tests  consist of 100 multiple choice questions which is time consuming for 3 hours each. Most of the students get the results within 6 to 8 weeks immediately after the exam period does elapse. The holders of both certifications (CIPM and Journey-established Professionals) receive the Certified Investment Performance Measurement certification.  

In June 1-7, 2024 (local time), and November 18-December 17, 2024 (local time) are the scheduled testing windows for CIPM exams. Registration deadlines for both campaigns are April and September, resp. CFA Institute have study materials and preparatory courses which are vital in helping candidates to prepare for the exams. Grades levels have been approximately 60% in the previous number of years.
