This higher learning program is intended to equip the learners with the necessary knowledge and skills to enable them join the employment market in meteorological research and education, or as professors at universities, or for higher level forecasting positions. Ph.D. meteorology takes about 4-6 years to complete, though it depends on the learner’s work rate, and some of the advanced courses offered include dynamic meteorology, atmospheric physics, atmospheric chemistry, climate dynamics, and numerical weather prediction.

Graduate Record Examination (GRE) and at times the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT). Standardized tests can be an important part of assessment where programs may demand high scores in the verbal, analytical writing, and even quantitative portions of such tests. Certain schools may also consider the results of other tests like GRE Mathematics Subject Test as an additional measure of a candidate’s quantitative skills required for a graduate level meteorology research and classes.
