The MVSc (Master of Veterinary Science) is just another postgraduate veterinary science program offered by India’s several universities. In general, the MVSc course lasts around the duration of 2 years and is divided into 2 semesters. 

The MVSc Curriculum has been custom designed to enhance students’ knowledge and research skills in various veterinary sciences such as veterinary microbiology, veterinary parasitology, veterinary pathology, veterinary pharmacology, veterinary public health, veterinary epidemiology, veterinary surgery, veterinary medicine, veterinary gynaecology and obstetricsamong others. 

Master of Veterinary Science [MVSc] Admission Process

1. Educational Qualification: Your qualifications need to be BVSc & AH (Bachelor of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry) or equivalent to be enrollable.

2. Entrance Exams: Mandatory prerequisite for this course are national level tests like ICAR's National Eligibility Test (NET), State Common Entrance Test (CET) or a test being conducted by a particular university/institution itself. 

3. Application Process: You have to additionally apply for MVSc program that different colleges/universities offer as per the admission procedure they are following and their deadlines. This process may be squeamish. The online form is filled, and paperwork is being submitted.

4. Selection Criteria: The final selection of the candidates will be based on their performance in entrance exams, their educational background, on work experience as well as on performance of candidates in interviews or screening tests (depending on the university and program). Their ranking will be generated on the basis of the merit list. 

5. Areas of Specialization: There are many areas of specialization that this MVSc training may lead a student to one of them like Veterinary Microbiology, Veterinary Surgery and Veterinary Pathology etc.

6. Course Duration: The length of study in the MVSc program full-time is usually 3 semesters. It includes following very advanced course work, doing research projects and thesis submission.

7. Fee Structure: How a government aided college charge tuition fees for MVSc is almost a fraction of what a private college charge. These may range from 3-8 lakhs. Of course, this amount varies wildly from college to college.

Master of Veterinary Science [MVSc] Entrance Exams

AIPVT: The All India Pre-Veterinary Test is a mark of selection for candidates of Bachelor of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry programs.

ICAR AIEEA: Indian Council of Agricultural research conducts AIEEA(MVSc) examination for admissions in Universities of Agriculture, across the country.

MH-CET: Common Entrance Test held in Maharashtra for the selection of aspirants to the veterinary colleges in Maharashtra is known as the Maharashtra Common Entrance Test.

UPCATET: Uttar Pradesh Combined Agricultural and Technological Entrance Test admit candidates for MVSc program in its package of services.

RPVT: Rajasthan Pre-Veterinary Test (RPVT) is an examination which evaluates the candidates aspiring to get into the veterinary colleges in Rajasthan, India.

KEAM: Admission to the Veterinary Science course in the Kerala Engineering Architecture Medical Examination (KeralaEAMCET) is among the aspirations of students pursuing graduate courses.

OUAT: The OUAT conducts entrance examination for all the undergraduate courses in agriculture including M.V.Sc.

Advanced Veterinary Anatomy Detailed anatomy of domestic animals, including the skeletal system, muscular system, nervous system, circulatory system, respiratory system, digestive system, urinary system, and reproductive system.
Advanced Veterinary Physiology Physiological functions of domestic animals, including the cardiovascular system, respiratory system, digestive system, urinary system, reproductive system, nervous system, and endocrine system.
Advanced Veterinary Pathology Diseases of domestic animals, including their causes, pathogenesis, clinical signs, diagnosis, and treatment.
Advanced Veterinary Pharmacology Drugs used in the treatment of diseases of domestic animals, including their mechanisms of action, side effects, and dosage regimens.
Veterinary Microbiology Microorganisms that cause diseases in domestic animals, including their identification, cultivation, and characterization.
Veterinary Parasitology Parasites that infect domestic animals, including their identification, life cycles, and pathology.
Veterinary Nutrition Nutritional requirements of domestic animals and the formulation of balanced diets.
Veterinary Animal Husbandry Management of domestic animals, including breeding, feeding, and healthcare.
Veterinary Epidemiology Study of the distribution and frequency of diseases in animal populations.
