The MSc Agriculture integrates advanced agricultural science disciplines as a postgraduate degree course. It has been fair for the majority of the central and state agricultural universities in the country to impart the program for at least 2 years.

The MSc Agriculture course is designed to help students to be advanced on both theory and practical fields, which are the subject of agriculture. Key disciplines to be learned are for example plant breeding and genetics, seed science, horticulture, entomology, plant pathology, soil sciences, agricultural economics, agricultural extension and communication, plant biotechnology, and agricultural statistics.

Master of Science [M.Sc] (Agriculture) Admission Process

1. Choose Specialization

- Figure out if you want to master in one field area of Agronomy, Horticulture, Soil Science, etc. This will ensure you are not having a broader focus.

2. Shortlist Colleges/Universities  

- list of MSc Agriculture colleges that have the particular specialization that you seek. Such factors as placements, fees, and location, etc. should also be taken into the picture.  

3. Check Eligibility Criteria

- Specific colleges will have the own standards as far as the academics scores, entrance exams, etc for the program, get to know them and make sure you match the conditions.

4. Fill in applications forms for Entrance Exams.

- Most universities are accepting ICAR, ASRB and so forth, the national/ state level examination scores. Therefore, you should choose the exam such as the one above that will be accepted at your dream university.  

5. Fill Application Forms   

- One main constituent of your college preparation process is to take examinations and once the exam scores are out, you should begin enrolling in your preferred colleges before the application deadline. Follow all instructions carefully.

6. Acquaint with Admission Interview.   

- Various colleges assess the students through personal interviews conducted prior to giving them admission. Be concise with the topic (i.e. specialization), have the education documents ready and try to prepare well.

7. Accept Offer Letter

- Few items you might want to consider after receiving the acceptance from your favorite college is to accept that letter of offer. Mention being eligible for any applicable admission fee and also confirm your admission.

8. Go for Scholarships

- It is better to ensure that you meet the requirements of the scholarship options for the MSc agriculture. You also need to get the right loans to fund the course. This will provide an opportunity for management of program fees.

Master of Science [M.Sc] (Agriculture) Eligibility

1. Bachelor's degree (BSc Agriculture/ BSc Horticulture etc.): The candidature is restricted to people with Bachelor's degree in agriculture, horticulture, forestry, or similar subjects from a recognized university.

2. Minimum percentage in graduation: The applicants will at least have to score 50-60% in their bachelor's degree (or CGPA, too) to proceed. Some schools can have more rigorous points, though.

3. Entrance exams: Some colleges insist on passing the ICAR AIEEA or the State Common Entrance Test or the qualifying test conducted by their premier college for MSc Agriculture admissions.

4. Work experience: Many colleges don't compel to make work experience a mandate. Nevertheless, some positions with previous experience in given fields may be preferred or be exempted from the strict qualifications in some scholarships.  

5. Age limit: The most colleges do not provide age restrictions which is a flexible criterion as well. Quotas meant for the general category candidates under the age of 30 are aroused in some institute. Give relaxation as per that pattern those are reserved category applicants.

Master of Science [M.Sc] (Agriculture) Entrance Exams

ICAR AIEEA PG: The Indian Council of Agriculture Research conducts the All India Entrance Examination for the Ph.D entrance, testing the applicants' knowledge of agriculture, allied sciences, and related fields.

BHU PET: Banaras Hindu University Postgraduate Entrance Test, designed for the candidates admissions to the MSc Agriculture programs, tests their concepts in agricultural studies and related topics.

UPCATET: Agriculture and Technology Entrance Test for Uttar Pradesh Combined Agriculture which evaluate basic agriculture, horticulture, and specializations for the admission in postgraduate courses of MSc Agriculture in Uttar Pradesh.

PAU CET PG: Punjab Agricultural University CET measures the general knowledge of applicants in the agriculture, agronomy, soil science and other related fields for admission to postgraduate in agriculture.

OUAT PG Entrance Exam: Admission to MSc Agriculture courses is conducted through Orissa University of Agriculture and Technology Postgraduate Entrance Exam with the aim of testing candidates for their knowledge of agricultural sciences.

Tamil Nadu Agricultural University PG Entrance Exam: TNAU PG Entrance Exam gauges the understanding of the students in agricultural science, horticulture and other disciplines related to it for their admission admission to the postgraduate agricultural programs in Tamil Nadu.
