The MPharm (General) is a 2-year postgraduate degree in pharmacy. It is the standard pharmacy programme offered through the universities in the UK. The application process is overseen by the eligibility criteria. These criteria demand applicants to obtain a BPharm (Bachelor of Pharmacy), and provide them a minimum 55% aggregate marks.

Researches in the M.Pharm. General program cover different branches of pharmacy ranging from pharmaceutical analysis to medicinal chemistry, pharmacology, pharmacognosy to pharmaceutical biotechnology, research in clinical practice, good practices observation techniques, and more. Also, students have to complete a research project and disclose the results in the form of the dissertation in their narrow-focus area throughout the course.

Master of Pharmacy [M.Pharm] Admission Process

1. Check Eligibility

To apply for M.Pharm course, you would require to have a B.Pharm bachelor’s degree with at least 55% aggregate score (45% for reserved category wide range of subjects. Certain bodies objectively evaluate candidates’ merit via a written exam conducted by them.

2. Shortlist Colleges/Institutes

Put down the names of all the schools you would like to apply for. The school that I prefer including NIPER, BITS Pilani, Manipal College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, and Jamia Hamdard are to be checked regarding their rankings, fees, admission process etc.

3. Attend at Entrance Exams

Note that almost all the colleges typically admit students upon their results from national or state level entrance exams, such as GPAT, NIPER-JEE, BITSAT, etc. Sit for entrance exams that you are eligible for. 

4. Apply to Colleges 

After that, prepare the admission form for the class to which you have been admitted to. Student applications are conducted through web-based admissions portals. Indicate your full names, school/college details, and contacts.

5. Attend Counselling 

If you get on the shortlist you'll be invited to the institute for a round of counseling based on your score and your institute preferences. Follow the schedule of attendance for counseling.

6. Confirm Admission

After confirmation of the seat, get your M.Pharm admission by paying tuition/course fee as required. Submit any other forms from the enrollment process to the procedure.

7. Join the Program

Start studies in the program by the reporting day stated in the admission letter that you received. Enroll for the orientation and have an excellent start to your M.Pharm program.

Master of Pharmacy [M.Pharm] Eligibility

1. Bachelor's Degree (B.Pharm)

Your qualification for MPharm is only possible if you have first degree in Pharmacy (B.Pharm). PCI ensures that the pharmacy course you are going to study, must be a recognized one.

2. Minimum Aggregate Percentage 

A lot of institutions want the students to have secured the aggregate of at least 55% of the B.Pharm program (reserved category of students 50% is needed). The majority colleges might set a mark of 60% and above as a requirement for admission.

3. Entrance Exams

Accomplishment of the national, state or university level entrance exams like GPAT, NIPER JEE, MAHCET etc could be required as well as admission on B.Pharm merit which is is offered by some colleges also.  

4. Internship Completion 

Apart from hospitals, industry-related sites also play a very important role in the training the students. Hence, B.Pharm students, in general, are required to have completed a minimum of 500 hours of internship training after B.Pharm before joining MPharm.

Master of Pharmacy [M.Pharm] Entrance Exams

GPAT (Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test): National phase of pharmacy in India screening potential candidates' understanding of pharmaceutical subjects and candidates for MPharm courses and scholarships.

BITSAT (Birla Institute of Technology and Science Admission Test): The entrance test will generally be applicable for admission to all the MPharm programs offered by the campuses of BITS Pilani which will assess the aptitude of the candidates in the subjects of pharmacy-related subjects.

NIPER JEE (National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research Joint Entrance Examination): The entrance test for admission of MPharm programmes provide by NIPERs in India, which evaluate candidates in the field of pharmaceutical science.

Pharmacy Practice Cover the principles and practices of pharmacy practice, including dispensing, counseling, and clinical pharmacy. Students will learn how to dispense medications safely and effectively, and how to counsel patients on the use of their medications.
