Master of Laws [L.L.M.] (Criminal Law) Admission Process

LLM (Criminal Law) is a postgraduate degree in law that specializes in criminal law. The program is typically designed for students who have already completed a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree and are interested in pursuing a career in criminal law.

Master of Laws [L.L.M.] (Criminal Law) Eligibility

1. J.D. Degree

In order to be accepted into an LLM in Criminal Law program, you must hold a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from a school accredited by the law schools' regulatory body. In this way, competition in the legal market helps to establish initial bricks, on which the advanced legal knowledge can be further built.

2. Law School Transcripts 

However, the great majority of LLM programs will need you to enclose the official transcripts from all post-secondary institutions that you have ever attended, even those that you could not finish. Through this you will be able to submit your J.D. Law school transcript indicating the courses taken and the grades achieved so far. High school GPA is usually a minimum requirement that is to be no less than 3.0 and preferably higher.

3. Letters of Recommendation

Most LLM programs usually want 2-3 letters of recommendation from those who can cover the depth of your academic performance in criminality as well as describe your aspirations to study jurisprudence/criminal law at the graduate level. The two most prevalent options are former law faculty members, as well as existing lawyers/mentors in the practice of law.  

4. Personal Statement
