The MPhil (Master of Philosophy) in Agronomy is a postgraduate course that specializes in the basic principles of crop and soil management that are related to science and technology. Full-time course intends to finish in 2 years, and the academic year is divided into 2 semesters of 6 months. 

In the curriculum, learners explore basic topics across specializations such as seed production, soil science, agricultural microbiology, plant pathology, entomology, plant genetics, biotechnology, and so forth. The curriculum typically comprises advance programs to agronomic practices, cropping systems, soil fertility, plant nutrition, water management, and weed control with a sustainable approach. MPhil Agronomy Admission 2024

1. The best place to start is obviously the university websites as this will help you to understand easier which criterion to follow, the deadline of the application and the necessary documents. 

2. Narrow down universities and never settle on a tuition topic by reflecting what you love and are good at.  

3. Develop your application package elements including essay, statement of purpose, letter of recommendation(s), CV/resume, and possibly other.

4. Complete the university application form online submitting personal information, past academic performance together with a research proposal.

MPhil Agronomy Course Eligibility 2024

1. Bachelor's degree in agriculture or other related fields with the grades of 55 percent on aggregate from universities that are recognized by the government.

2. Students who successfully passed such national level exams as CSIR-NET, GATE or any other equivalent test can apply as well. The candidates who may be backed up in admissions may get first preference. 

3. A year spent working in the fields of agriculture research or teaching is most likely to be a welcome addition for many institutes when it comes to their choice of candidates. Often, the candidates required are those with 2-3 years of experience.

4. Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. degree in the field with focus on the latest trends and innovations in agronomic research are the mandatory professional requirements. That usually is based on the results of the entrance test for degree or the quality of the work of students.

5. Being able to speak in English is of high importance as this is the only language for study in MPhil. The applicants need to be at least at the level of passing the designated English tests carried out during the admission process.  

6. Resume letters, statement of purpose, research interests and experience also constitute important components of the process for eligibility and selection criteria for the commencement of the MPhil Agronomy course.

M.Phil Agronomy Entrance Exams

ICAR AIEEA PG: Indian Council of Agricultural Research – All Indian Entrance Examination for Admission to Postgraduate Programs examines students’ aptitude in agriculture and allied fields.

CAT: CAT, a national level examination, is conducted by some institutions as an admission test to MPhil course in Agronomy.

ICAR JRF: Indian Council of Agricultural Research Junior Research Fellowship test makes sure that candidates have enough skills and knowledge on agricultural science subjects for the research posts.
