The Diploma in Hotel Management, the hospitality course in India, is intended to empower students to work in the hotel industry . Typically, it is a 1-2 years course that is offered in most technical institutes, polytechnics and universities in the country. 

The curriculum is highly diversified and includes topics from food production, food and beverage service, front office operations, housekeeping, hotel accountancy, hotel law, and so on. Students are introduced to the different functions of a hotel via lectures and get practical experience at labs which are modeled after real situations. They are groomed on basic functional work such as dealing with guests, serving meals and drinks, reserving room bookings, compiling menus and also running the supply chain management.

Diploma in Hotel Management Course Eligibility

1. Educational Qualification: You should have completed your 10+2 with any stream from a recognized education board in order to qualify for the diploma course. 

2. Age Limit: Childhood is not tied to fixed age ranges, this is, there is usually not a specified minimum or maximum age for application. Student hood of any age who have met educational criteria are eligible to apply.

3. Entrance Test: You will most likely be required to clear entrance examination conducted by the hotel management institute or college of your chose in order to get admission into the diploma program as well. These tests are composed of aptitude, English, and different language tests.  

4. Physical Fitness: A certain physical condition is a must for you to successfully pass an intense training that the course requires of you. As one of the application requirements, it is possible that you will be required to produce a general certifcate from a physician stating that you are medically fit.

5. Documents Required: Essential things that you will need with you are - pass marks and passing certificates of your 10+2 exams, date of birth/age proof, character certificate by school, document of migration etc.  

6. Personal Interview: If you have cleared the requirements and entrance exam, if there is any, you will be called for a personal interview by the institute to evaluate your inclination, aptitude, ability in communications and the like. One of the criteria in selecting students for admission is the interview.

Diploma in Hotel Management Entrance Exams

1. NCHMCT JEE - Every year, National Council for Hotel Management JEE is held to admit candidates for B.Sc. Hotel Management and Hospitality programs in India. According to the Anticipating job requirements of the future tests knowledge of aptitude, English, reasoning, numerical ability etc.

2. IHM Aptitude Test - It is a test conducted by The National Council for Hotel Management and Catering Technology to facilitate admission to IHM affiliated institutes that offer diploma programs. It is a measure of the English, aptitude, logical thinking ability and numeracy. 

3. State Level Entrance Examinations - Some states have a separate entrance test conducted by the state government for admission to these state-run institutes, for example, MAH-B.HMCT CET in Maharashtra tests verbal ability, comprehension, mathematics, hotel management aptitude and general knowledge.

4. Institution Level Exams - Undoubtedly, almost all hotel management private colleges conduct their own qualifying entrance exams, which cover four broad areas: written English language, quantitative aptitude, general awareness and aptitude. 

5. Group Discussion and Personal Interview Round - Candidates who have managed to successfully pass the test move to the group discussion where analytical skills of the candidates are evaluated, followed by a personal interview assessing the interests and aptitude of the candidates.

6. Admission and Merit List - Candidates are selected on basis their written exam scores as well as their performance at group discussion and interview. Lastly they are put in merit list which is released for candidates who can confirm their admission on remaining seats as per reservations.
