MD Biochemistry is a doctorate level postgraduate degree in India belonging to those professions that study biochemical processes underlying human health and diseases. The average length of the Medical Biochemistry programme is 3 years immediately following graduating with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree. \
Apart from the clinical sub-disciplines covered within the biochemistry curricula, the teaching incorporates topics like the clinical biochemistry, molecular biology, genetics, immunology, neurochemistry, and nutrition. Through the process, they acquire a detailed knowledge of biochemical reactions which occur in the human body and how these reactions could change as a result of some diseases. They are trained in many different things such as doing different lab tests and using specific analytical techniques to diagnose medical conditions.

Eligibility | MBBS degree or equivalent with minimum marks (varies by institution) |
Entrance Exams | Typically required, specific exam depends on the institution (e.g., NEET-PG in India) |
1. It requires prior courses like biology, chemistry, physics and mathematics that are prerequisites for bachelor's degree.
2. Spend some time in preparing in advance for the MCAT exam that almost all doctors need to pass with good scores.
3. Fill in applications to MD Biochemistry programs and provide the transcripts, test data, letter of recommendation, personal statement, and other recommended things.
4. Attending job interview session hosted at the medical schools I managed to secure an invitation. Demonstrate my research in my assignment.
5. Have practical clinical experiences and internships join that will bring forth lab and medical practice.
6. Being made part of program. Do not forget about Geography, Fees and your personal subject interest.
7. As soon as you are enrolled, please make arrangements to submit your deposit and fasciculate the application forms. Go for any medical tests, immunizations, and those that are needed for the starting process.
1. Bachelor of science (B.Sc.) program with Biochemistry as one of the main courses - The degree should be bachelors of science (B.Sc.), and the subject of Biochemistry should be one of the main ones that the candidates must study for at least 2 years / 4 semesters in their undergraduate program.
2. At least fifty-five percentage (50 percentage for OBC candidates) in the Bachelors of Science level. - Students must have obtained an aggregate mark of 55% or above with a minimum of a second class upper division in their B.Sc to qualify. the most prominent factor for me was a degree from a well-known university.
3. MCAT - Testing national or state level entrance exams like NEET PG, AIIMS PG, JIPMER PG, etc. , candidates take one step closer to studying for MD Biochemistry Programs in colleges of their choice. The result of the entrance test is the factor that is assessed more.
4. Personal evaluation - After the entrance examination the candidates with highest scores are invited by the college's departments for an interview session aimed at assessing their appropriateness as biochemistry students. The candidate’s ability to communicate and subject knowledge checked.
5. Merit list – Merit list is the last step in which the candidate’s academic record, the entrance test marks and personal interview performances are taken into account by the colleges. After that the college prepares the merit list for offering admission. All students are rated on the merit basis in order to get the seat.
AIIMS PG: AIMS entrance exam challenges postgraduate students in biochemistry for MD aspirations.
NEET PG: Part of NEET for entrance to the Postgraduate Medical courses also includes the biochemistry topics towards MD admissions.
JIPMER PG: The Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education & Research evaluates biochemistry knowledge in its MD entrance test.
