Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology is a diploma level paramedical course aimed at providing knowledge and skills to the students to help doctors in performing different tests on biological samples such as tissues, blood, body fluid etc., The periods for completing the diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology are 1 year to 2 years depending on the institute. The curriculum provides opportunity to undergo practical session in laboratory such as biochemistry, microbiology, immunology, histopathology.

The entrance examinations recognized for entry to Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology programs are CET, which is the state level common entrance test for diploma courses in paramedical organized by government or private colleges. Some institutes also have their own qualifying written examinations that are used in the selection process of the candidates. To enroll in Diploma in MLT course, one needs to have passed their 10+2 examination in the science stream with Physics, Chemistry and Biology subjects.

Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology Course Eligibility 2024

1. Candidate must have passed 10+2 with science stream (Physics Chemistry and Biology) with minimum 50% marks from any recognized central or state board of examination. 

2. Minimum age which is required is 17 years on 31st of December of the year when the admissions are being taken. 

3. If applicable, having passed the entrance exam for the institute/college/university of their choice. There are cases where the particular institutes conduct their own entrance tests.  

4. Health certificate indicating the applicant’s suitability and capacity to perform techniques in a laboratory.

5. Wherever applicable, reservation criteria as per government norms for SC/ST/OBC candidates.  

6. For lateral entry in 2nd year the candidate passed diploma in MLT or degree in B.Sc with at least 45% marks.
