Diploma in Interior Design is a diploma course that deals in designing, planning and managing facilities of residential and commercial buildings. The duration of Diploma in Interior Design course is as follows usually 1-2 years. Some of the topics that are tackled in this course include principles of design, planning of space, color analysis, furniture, light and sound, thermal systems and basic architectural designs among others. Through designing and modelling, students are able to understand how to design beautiful as well as functional interior spaces using Computer Aided Design (CAD). 

The admission details in case of Diploma in Interior Design course after 10+2 are that the candidates must have passed 10+2 in any stream with minimum 50% marks aggregate. In many institutes, candidates are selected on merit basis of examination conducted at the respective institute or university. A few of the colleges have their own entrance examinations that students have to write for them to be admitted to this course. National and state CET like NATA (National Aptitude Test in Architecture), CEED (Common Entrance Examination for Design) and other state level entrance exams are also considered.

Diploma (Interior Design) Course Eligibility

1. Must have passed the 10+2 examination in any stream from recognized board with the minimum of 50% marks. 

2. Appearing candidates of 10+2 are also eligible for admission; however, the student must belong to arts, science or commerce stream.

3. This particular diploma course does not restrict entry to any age, therefore it means anyone can be allowed to join. 

4. Admission is available only for those who passed an entrance exam organized by the institute itself. 

5. It is appropriate for creative thinking individuals who have or show drawing or sketching abilities in designing.

6. Fluency in English language is also compulsory as most of the design colleges have their course materials in English.

Diploma (Interior Design) Entrance Exams

1. NID: Evaluates creativity and designing skills through studio test, perceptual test on colour, product designing, graphic and observation. 

2. UCEED: Evaluates graphic skills, spatial and visual awareness, artistic aptitude and logical thought, colour theory, and design thinking, plus problem recognition and problem-solving skills.

3. CEED: Takes into consideration quantitative skills, visual spatial skills, environmental and social understanding, abstract thinking, logical thinking, creativity, and aesthetics. 

4. NIFT: Conveys creativity, language, visual perception, interpersonal understanding via GAT, CAT and Situation Test.
