Diploma in Patient Care Assistant is 1-year course that prepares students to take a job as patient care assistants in hospitals, nursing home and other healthcare facilities. Topics taught in this diploma include; principles of nursing, aseptic technique and procedures, clinical emergencies, gerontology, nutrition, first responder, medical vocabulary, interpersonal communication in health care, among others This course takes twelve months for completion and is made up of theory sessions, clinical practice at clinical sites supervised.

The minimum qualification that one has to meet in order to apply for admission for the Diploma in Patient Care Assistant is having passed the 10+2 examination in any stream from a recognized board. This has no entrance examination for any student who wishes to pursue any academic program at this university. However, the students are required to pass through the interviews organized by the institute to check on their communication skills, aptitudes, interests.

1. Minimum 10+2 passed in any stream from a recognized board and minimum 50% marks aggregate. 

2. For general category students only; they must have minimum 17 years of age as on the date of admission. 

3. 5 percent relaxation in aggregate marks in qualifying examination for SC/ST/OBC candidates as per policy.  

4. English will have to be one of the subjects at the 10+ 2 level.

5. The staff should be able to communicate effectively, should possess friendly and courteous nature and should be in good health. 

6. Has to pass an entrance examination organised by the institute providing the course to achieve the final admission.
